On Sunday, January 28th, 2024, the Salesian family of Bethlehem celebrated the feast of its Founder and Patron, Saint John Bosco at the Salesian Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, during which a Mass was presided over by Fr. Louis Salman, spiritual guide of the youth of Palestine, as well as Fr. Lawrence sagotti, rector of the Salesian monastery and spiritual guide of the scouts; in the presence of several priests, religious sisters, seminarians, Mr. Anton Salman, the Mayor of Bethlehem, Scout leaders, and representatives of religious and local authorities.
In his homily, Fr. Salman gave a message of hope amidst the ongoing circumstances, saying: “More than 100 days have passed since the war started…yet we must never lost hope, because God’s divine providence and protection will never leave us in such circumstances. Be reminded of Saint John Bosco’s trust in the Lord, the saint also put his faith in the youth and taught them how to love their homeland. To serve the land instead of choosing to immigrate. He added: “Jesus Christ said that change can come from an individual’s actions, so why don’t you choose to be a change maker.”
Mass was marked by the beautiful hymns and songs performed by the Salesian Choir, along with its Brass Band.
At the end, a small reception was held at the theater of the monastery.
