On Wednesday, April 24th, 2024, the Ecclesiastical Courts of the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem, Amman, held a workshop for the representatives of the Jordanian banking sector, which focused on the jurisdiction of the ecclesiastical courts concerning legal issues, such as inventory inheritance, and legal guardianship over minors.
Father Dr. Aktham Hijazin, President of the Latin Ecclesiastical Court in Jordan, thanked the attendees for their participation in this workshop, the first of its kind, which seeks to preserve the rights of all by better facilitating the procedures between the ecclesiastical court and the local banking institutions.
Afterward, a comprehensive lecture on the topic was given by Father Dr. Humam Khzouz, appointed judge at the Ecclesiastical Court in Amman, during which he discussed the judicial authority in the Jordanian constitution and the types of religious courts. He also spoke in detail about the procedures the Latin Ecclesiastical Court follows.
In the end, a dialogue session was also held between the representatives of the ecclesiastical court and the various banking sectors, during which practical suggestions were put forward to better facilitate procedures through the regular exchange of memos.
