On the start of the Holy month, H.B. Patriarch Pierbattista Pizzaballa and the bishops, priests and faithful of the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem, Amman, and Nazareth, congratulate Muslims all over the world and wish them an acceptable fasting, during which they may obtain forgiveness, grace, and acquire self-discipline and the exercise of virtue.
This year, Ramadan fast coincides with the Lent time for Christians, so supplications and prayers are raised from mosques, churches, and homes, asking abundant blessings on fasting people, on our homelands and on all humanity, which aspires to stop wars, prevent bloodshed, the return of refugees, and the achievement of justice and peace, starting from Jerusalem, Palestine, Yemen, Ukraine and all the world.
We ask God, who commanded us to fast, pray and give alms, to install peace and reconciliation instead of disputes, forgiveness instead of resentment, and charity instead of selfishness.
May God accept your fast, double your reward, and answer your prayers.
Happy and blessed Ramadan.
