BEITJALA - On Sunday, February 25th, 2024, the scout leader Mr. George Canawati, who is responsible for commissioning activities of training and development, organized a workshop for the scout leaders of different age groups, at the Catholic Scouts Association of St. John The Baptist, in the nest of the Papal Household group, with the participation of several Catholic scout groups: The Latin Scout from Aboud; The Arab Catholic Scout from Jerusalem; The Roman Catholic Scout from Jerusalem; The Papal Scout from Beit Jala; The Terra Sancta Scout from Bethlehem; St. Joseph Girl's Scout from Bethlehem; The Holy Family scout group from Ramallah; The Latin Scout from Beit Sahour.
The day began with a Mass, presided over by Fr. Hanna Salem, the parish priest of Beitjala, at the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation. Then the 45 participants headed to the Papal hall, where they were welcomed by the scout leader Mr. Albert Hani. Then, Mr. George Canawati gave them a lecture about the proper way to plan and supervise a workshop.
The attendees were later distributed to groups, where they proposed plans, ideas, and programs to work on in the future, which will be developed and implemented in the next stage, within the vision of the institution.
In the end, Fr. Issa Hijazin, the spiritual leader of the Catholic Scouts of Palestine, emphasized the importance of such workshops that develop practical skills and aid in building up the scouts for the better future of the association, especially in light of the current circumstances the country is undergoing.
