The Most Reverend Ilario Antoniazzi
Archbishop-designate of Tunis
c/o Latin Parish Church
30055 Rameh
Congratulations!
Your Excellency,
The Holy See has just announced your appointment as Archbishop of Tunis. The members of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land express their gratitude to the Holy Father for his choice, and joy that a member of the clergy of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem is deemed worthy for such a mission.
We understand what your feelings may be at this time. On one hand, a sense of confusion in the face of this new and profound call of the Lord. While on the other hand, you feel the need to thank God for the wonders He has done in you. We invite you to think about the names of two of your predecessors in the fifth century on the cathedra of Carthage, the Bishops ‘Quodvultdeus’ and ‘Deogratias’ … and your name “Ilario” (Joy).
Our wish for you is that you always do the will of God with joy and gratitude to the Lord of history and the experience in your lifetime as a priest in the service of the community in Jordan, Galilee, and now in Tunisia. Three different environments from each other, but three vast areas to make known the Word of God, which you proclaimed and will continue to do so in your new mission.
Most Reverend Ilario,
We have known, appreciated and rejoiced in being together during the various priest meetings or inter-ritual spiritual retreats. As a sign of communion on the day of your Episcopal Ordination, we, the Bishops, will impose our hands upon your head and invoke the Holy Spirit to make you a pastor according to the heart of God, and zealous as your predecessors. With our best wishes and alf mabrouk.
