On Friday, November 29, 2024, the Family Center of the Latin Patriarchate wrapped up its final session for betrothed couples from the Latin parishes of Palestine, held at the Seminary of Beit Jala.
The day featured engaging discussions on essential topics for building strong marriages. Fr. Emile Salaita, President of the Ecclesiastical Court, opened with an insightful lecture on the canonical laws of Holy Matrimony. Psychologist Claudia Baabish followed with practical advice for navigating challenges like anger, stress, and depression, equipping couples with valuable tools for their journey ahead. Fr. Ibrahim Nino then explored the role of social media in family life, emphasizing its dual power to either enrich relationships or erode Christian values.
After lunch, Msgr. William Shomali, General Vicar, delivered an inspiring spiritual address, urging couples to deeply embrace the teachings shared throughout the sessions. He underscored the importance of making Christ the unshakable cornerstone of their married life.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates and a candle featuring the Holy Family, symbolizing the light couples are called to bring into their homes and communities.
This dynamic program received enthusiastic feedback from participants, whose dedication to learning and applying these lessons highlights the need for similar initiatives to support families and parishioners in the future.
