From October 28 to 31, 2024, the priests of the Latin Patriarchate in Jordan will hold their annual spiritual retreat at the Visitation House of the Sisters of the Rosary in Dabouk. This year's theme is "The Pastoral Letters of St. Paul," highlighting the theological and spiritual dimensions of St. Paul's pastoral letters and their relevance to priests' lives today.
Monsignor Khaled Akasha, Head of the Islam Office at the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, will lead the retreat, offering six sessions that explore the teachings and values of St. Paul's letters. His deep knowledge in this area is rooted in his doctoral research on St. Paul, his letters, and his appointees, which he completed thirty years ago. These discussions offer new perspectives to help priests enrich their spiritual and pastoral lives.
Additionally, Fr. Rif'at Bader, Director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media, will present an additional session focused on preparations for the 2025 Jubilee, themed “Pilgrims of Hope.” This session will explore the importance of this Jubilee for the Church.
The retreat typically includes various spiritual practices and opportunities for prayer and reflection, such as scriptural meditations, Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the Liturgy of the Hours, the Rosary, and periods of silence to help participants internalize what they have learned.
