LETTER – Please find below the letter that Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa sent to the members of the Hebrew Speaking Catholic Community in Israel regarding the resignation of Fr. David Neuhauss as Vicar for the Hebrew Speaking Vicariate of St. James.
To all members of the Hebrew Vicariate of St. James
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
the Lord give you peace!
It is already public by now and made known to all that Fr. David has presented his resignation as Vicar for the Hebrew Speaking Vicariate of St. James.
I feel the duty to thank him personally and publicly for his long service in the Vicariate.
I personally remember his arrival to the old Maison St. Isaïe, when he returned from his studies abroad, in the nineties, and then all the different passages in his service of the Vicariate, especially the last twelve years.
I am sure he will continue to participate in the life of the Vicariate, in the ways we will discover in time.
In these last years Fr. David contributed enormously to the life of the St. James community: new priests, textbooks in Hebrew, liturgical texts, summer camps for children, and many other initiatives that contributed to building a young, living and vibrant Christian community within the Israeli society.
In these years also we had the new statutes and a new canonical configuration of the Vicariate, which brought more stability and clarity in all the activities.
Now, the Vicariate is at the beginning of a new chapter. I am sure the legacy left by Fr. David will be kept and invested in appropriately.
To Fr. David, we all wish every good for his new activities and for his life.
+Pierbattista Pizzaballa
