The Catechetical Office of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has published a booklet of Celebrations for Religious Education, to offer catechists a set of celebrations that can be done according to the liturgical year. It can be celebrated through an activity done with the students (drawing, making a painting on the theme of the celebrations, photos, PowerPoint...). Following the example of the liturgical celebration, teachers will be able to present a religious theme within the curriculum, dynamically and energetically. The goal of the celebrations in religious education is to link faith to life, to foster the importance of liturgical celebrations, and to involve the Church in the process of religious education, for example (the celebration of the Cross, the celebration of St. Joseph's Day, etc.).
Celebrations are important because they allow students to express their faith externally and collectively, through a specific action.
By holding these celebrations, we will help students live what they've learned in a new way.
The target audience: Elementary grades (3rd to 6th grade).
The office will distribute the booklet to all Catholic schools in the West Bank and Gaza (Bethlehem, Nablus, Zababdeh area, Ramallah, Jerusalem, and Jericho).
We hope that this tool will aid catechists in better fulfilling their work and mission.
