On Sunday, September 15th, 2024, Msgr. William Shomali, General Vicar of the Latin Patriarchate, presided over a Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows in Aboud to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, the parish's patroness. Concelebrating was Fr. Remon Haddad, the parish priest of Aboud, with the participation of several priests, seminary students, religious sisters, and parishioners.
Reflecting on the Gospel text of the feast, His Excellency pointed out the blessings that God gives us, the most important of which is his mother, the Virgin Mary, as he said to the disciple, “This is your mother,” making her the mother of all, who always leads us to her Son, our Savior.
Following the homily, Fr. Remon gave a special blessing to two of the parish families in honor of their 25th wedding anniversary.
At the end of the Mass, Fr. Remon gave a review of the major projects and activities undertaken by the parish over the past year, using the parish feast as an opportunity for reflection, evaluation, and the initiation of a new pastoral plan.
Later that evening, Msgr. William Shomali celebrated another Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Elderly House in Abu Dis, Jerusalem. The celebration was attended by a variety of guests, including the French Consul General, religious sisters, elderly residents, and students from the White Fathers seminary, who helped with the Mass and led the hymns.
