Under the theme “Unity in Service and a Renewed Liturgical Journey,” the chaplaincy of Altar Servers in Jordan, in collaboration with the Liturgical Office in Jerusalem, organized a special gathering on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Queen of Peace Center in Jordan.
The day brought together around 400 altar servers, young boys and girls from different parishes across Jordan. The gathering aimed to deepen their shared understanding of liturgical service, strengthen bonds of fraternity, and renew their sense of belonging to the sacred mission they carry out at the altar and at the heart of the Church’s liturgical life.
Participants were divided into three age groups, allowing for tailored sessions, interactive activities, and spiritual reflections suited to each category. All activities focused on the meaning and purpose of the liturgical year and how altar servers are called to live it with joy and awareness.

Listening to God’s voice
During the Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Abdullah Dababneh, the spiritual director of the altar servers, invited all participants to “listen attentively to the voice of God in their lives,” emphasizing that this inner listening is “the foundation for true happiness.”
In his homily, Fr. Dababneh reminded the altar servers that their closeness to the altar is not a coincidence but a divine calling. “God has placed in your hearts a special invitation—to be faithful servants, witnesses of Christ, and active participants in building up the Church and serving the People of God,” he said.

Renewing Promises of Service and Dedication
At the end of Mass, the altar servers renewed their promises to serve the Lord with fidelity and integrity, reaffirming their spiritual and liturgical commitment to this sacred vocation. The assembly then prayed for God’s blessing upon all altar servers of the parishes in Jordan, asking the Lord to deepen their spiritual life, strengthen them in their mission and to inspire new priestly vocations.
Filled with joy and hope, participants left the gathering encouraged and united in mission, expressing their desire for more such encounters that enrich their ministry, deepen their sense of belonging to Christ and the Church, and form new generations of dedicated altar servers.

Joint Effort Behind a Blessed Day
The event was made possible through the efforts of Fr. Abdullah Dababneh—spiritual director of altar servers in Jordan and diocesan vocation director—alongside the chaplaincy team composed of Deacon Ramzi Ghanem, Acolyte Anton Hanna, Mr. Yazan Sbelah, and Mr. Youssef Sahawneh, who worked closely with the Liturgical Office in Jerusalem to prepare and coordinate this blessed day of communion and renewal.
